WEIRD NOISE was created in 2016 under the leadership of Olivier Valcarcel (musician, composer, MaxMsp developer). Weird Noise aims to offer immersive shows in the field of theater, electronic music and digital arts.
It takes its singularity from the recurrent association of a technological device with an artistic discipline. These two entities are thus complementary and inseparable.
The common thread running through our work is the bug. The bug for the machine. Madness for human. The treatment of these entities follows an obsessive path confronting the bug and madness as a poetic form.
We use technological tools to serve the artistic purpose. These tools allow increased interactivity between all the forms of expression chosen during the projects: surround sound design, video mapping, interactive networks, controlled lights.
The substance of the subjects addressed is intended to be cynical and dark, not out of concern for negativity, but as if to overcome the absurd observation of an often unfair world and make this madness a journey back to our childhood – our carefree – found again.
